Application of empathy nursing care in the diagnosis and treatment of outpatient cancer patients

Abstract:

Objective

To explore the effect of empathy nursing on psychological and compliance of outpatients with cancer.

Methods

A total of 107 cancer patients in an outpatient department of Chongqing Cancer Hospital from June 2016 to May 2018 were divided into study group (empathy nursing model) and control group (routine nursing model) selected by convenience sampling method. Compliance, psychological status and satisfaction with medical treatment were evaluated in the two groups. Compliance was divided into excellent compliance (90-100 points). Basic compliance (60-90 points) and non-compliance (0-60 points), compliance rate=excellent compliance rate+ basic compliance rate; Symptom Check-list 90 (SCL-90) was used to evaluate the psychological state of patients, including anxiety, depression, hostility, paranoia, etc. Satisfaction degree, the investigation contents of visiting environment, service attitude, nurse-patient communication were designed respectively, according to very full. The three conclusions of meaning (95-100 points), basic satisfaction (70-95 points) and dissatisfaction (0-70 points) were counted. Satisfaction rate=very satisfaction rate+ basic satisfaction rate.

Results

Compliance rate, SCL-90 score and patients′satisfaction with medical treatment in the study group were significantly higher than those in the control group, and there were significant differences between the two groups in each index (P<0.05).

Conclusion

In the process of outpatient treatment of cancer patients, the introduction of empathy nursing model is of great significance for improving patients' compliance with diagnosis and treatment, regulating their psychological state and improving their satisfaction with medical treatment, which is worthy of promotion.
