Abstract:

Objective

The levels of tumor abnormal protein (TAP) and tumor markers (CEA, SCC, CA125, NSE and CYFRA21-1) were studied in patients with lung cancer, to explore their correlation between TAP and tumor markers in lung cancer.

Methods

181 cases of patients with lung cancer were recruited in Department of Respiratory Medicine Tang Du Hospital. TAP was measured by coacervation method. And their CEA, SCC, CA125, NSE and CYFRA21-1 were measured by Electro-Chemiluminescence immunoassay (ECLI). Then the relations between TAP and Tumor Markers were analyzed by spearman correlation test.

Results

There was a positive correlation between TAP and CEA in lung cancer patients (P=0.016), but no correlation with SCC, CA125, NSE and CYFRA21-1 (P>0.05). And subgroup analysis, there was a positive correlation between TAP and CEA in patients with adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma (P=0.021, 0.044, respectively), a positive correlation between TAP and CA125 in patients with adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, small cell carcinoma, and unclassified cancer (P values were 0.046, 0.007, 0.001, 0.006, respectively). However, there was no significant correlation between TAP and SCC, NSE and CYFRA21-1 in the four types of lung cancer (P>0.05).

Conclusion

The TAP value is a comprehensive manifestation of a variety of abnormal tumor proteins, such as CEA and CA125, in lung cancer patients. Especially, there was a good positive correlation between TAP and traditional TM in patients with lung adenocarcinoma.
