Clinical effects of abdomen massage combined with dialectic meal on the treatment of constipation in lung carcinoma patients after chemotherapy

Abstract:

Objective

To observe the effect of abdominal massage combined with dialectic meal on treating constipation in patients of lung carcinoma after chemotherapy.

Methods

All 240 patients of lung carcinoma suffering from constipation caused by chemotherapy were divided into four groups, 60 in each. Besides the routine nursing care, the group of abdominal massage received abdominal massage, the group of dialectic meal received dialectic meal, the combined group received abdominal massage and dialectic meal and the control group was treated with phenolphthalein tablets(0.2 g qd). The overall therapeutic effect in the four groups and the scores of constipation in the combined group and the control group were estimated at three different times(before treatment, the 3th day and 7th day of treatment).

Results

①The overall therapeutic effect was 31.7% in the group of abdominal massage, 65% in the group of dialectic meal, 88.3% in the combined group and 68.3% in the control group. The combined group has a significant therapeutic effect. ②In the 3th day and 7th day of treatment, the total score of constipation-related syndrome in the, combined group was significant declined than the same period of control group(P<0.05 or 0.01). ③On the 7th day of treatment, the scores of constipation in the combined group in terms of difficult defecation, defecation time, tenesmus, endless, bilge feeling was better than the same period of control group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).

Conclusion

Abdominal massage combined with dialectic meal has a good effect on treating constipation caused by chemotherapy of patients diagnosed with lung carcinoma. It should be used widely in the clinic.
